Is there a cost to participate?

As a non-profit satellite for Kids Against Hunger, we are responsible to raise all of our funds to purchase ingredients and equipment and supplies such as bags, boxes, hair nets, hand sanitizer, and cleaners. By combining our efforts with other satellites and purchasing in bulk, we are able to keep our food costs as low as possible.

One meal costs 20 cents. On average, each volunteer packages approximately 150-180 meals per 1 1/2 hour packing event depending on their age and experience, which represents approximately $30 -$36 that we must raise per packager per event. We ask all groups to fundraise or look for a sponsor to help defer the cost of their event. We have a list of proven fundraisers.

How much does it cost to feed one child?

To feed one child one meal is $0.20. Each bag of food (391 grams) includes 6 one-cup servings. Each 32lb box of food holds 36 bags of food. This is the equivalent of 216 meals per box. Each 40 foot container load of food includes 299,376 meals or 21 pallets of food at a program cost of approximately $60,000.

How do you raise the money for your food?

It costs Kids Against Hunger about 20¢ to buy the ingredients, packaging, and shipping for each meal. As a nonprofit organization we raise all our funds from the generosity of individual donors, corporations, churches, synagogues, and foundations. Put simply, the more money we receive from donors, the more children we can feed.
